Motorcycle riding is often seen as rogue and rebellious. But, unknown to many, there is a lot of honour amongst bikers, as well as tremendous respect towards others. The modern biker is defined by these. Here are a few tips to always observe to earn yourself the biker of honour title.
Pride in Riding, Always
Biking is many things in one; an art to be mastered, a hobby to be enjoyed, a skill to be respected, etc. When you ride, you should always know that you bring a certain reputation to the biking community. Always seek to bring pride and honour.
Avoid bad manners like drunk riding, running lights, and harassing other motorists.
Honour to The Bike
Your bike is your mate; your pet. Always treat it with respect and honour. Maintain it at all times- clean, service, revamp and groom it. Do not get on it if you are not well-equipped to give it the best treatment. Riding gear is part of the bike– always have it worn.
Bikers are Family
The biking bro code is not to be broken. Acknowledge other bikers on the road. NEVER leave behind a stranded biker. Be wary of criminals, though; if the place itself looks unsafe, notify an authority to help.
No Nonsense, No Fear
On and off the bike, always be firm. Do you see how athletes are always viewed through their off-pitch behaviour? The same goes for bikers. Do not be intimidated, especially when someone has wronged you on the road. Be firm yet calm. Have integrity. If you make a promise to a road user during an incident, ensure you fulfil it.
Do Not Be Broken
Never let disappointments pull you down. To be a rider is in itself to be daring, fearless, and unrelenting. Let your bike always be a reminder that you can beat the odds. Let your riding make people say, ‘that’s a rider; impossible to beat.’
